I’m a small town girl, with a love for the city but a need to get lost in the outdoors. I can’t help it. I crave adventure, the quiet that only a Moab desert can bring you, and have a desire to live simply.
There was once a time where I dreamed of working a 9-5 job, having a minimum of 10 children (I’m not kidding, ask my mom) and living in a house with a white picket fence. I don’t judge those that still have that dream, but now I dream much bigger and know that a little white picket fence would only suffocate me.
Instead, I’ve traded my 9-5 for a flexible job as a wedding and dog photographer. I’ve traded my dream of 10 children for a plethora of cats and a black mouth cur named Savannah (you’ll hear a ton about her), and I’ve traded my white picket fence for a white Toyota Sienna with the seats ripped out of the back so that I can share a twin size bed with my husband. Okay, so we currently have a two bedroom condo in Denver as well, where are four cats reside, and my husband has one of those boring day jobs, but we’re on the right track.
We have plans, big plans… “retiring” in the next 5 years plans. We are both eager to upgrade our mini van to a full size van or RV as soon as finances will let us. We want to spend every day climbing, hiking, mountain biking and exploring the world. And until then, we live frugally, travel every single chance we get, and experience life in a way some only dream about.
Aside from all of that, I’m also a huge health nut. I have two degrees in exercise physiology and a minor in nutrition, which come in handy since I also have a variety of weird health issues ranging from cold urticaria (allergy to the cold) to histamine intolerance (you know, the naturally occurring amine produced by the body to do things like break down food or respond to an invader). As you can imagine, living with these can be an adventure in itself. Living with them while traveling the world is a whole other experience.
If you’re interested in working together, shoot me an email! I can’t wait to hear from you!
ABOUT ADVENTURES OF RAYNA
Adventures of Rayna is an adventure travel blog about me and my husband (Rayna + Christian), our dog (Savannah), and our five year path to partial retirement (scheduled for 2021). You’ll find stories, trip reports, advice and random tidbits about training, rock climbing and overcoming the obstacles that life throws our way (health issues, traveling while saving money, etc.).
This blog was created to tell our story and keep us honest. It was also designed to inspire others to travel, to overcome obstacles and to live their lives the way they truly want to. Because it doesn’t matter what others think, what you’re “supposed” to do or even if you doubt yourself. This is your life. Live it. Life is too short to do anything else.
